Exploration

Had another 3D Max lesson today. Exploring the wonders of rendering was fun, it's like a magic wand where you simply just click and poof! you get glass, wood, metal and many other textures. Seriously, technology is freakyyy~ However my outcome of today's practise is still very lousy and way way way too far from looking realistic. But oh well I believe practise makes perfect, I know I'll get to a certain level someday~ someday. . . . . . . . .

Learning 3D max this semester, very very intimidated BUT I WILL MASTER IT SOMEDAY!  *I hope...*

Anyway, here's my very first 3D max object. Although it looks simple but it took me nearly 3 HOURS to complete it... ><''

Shall keep my spirits high and not let the negativity take over. Never say never!  :)

Project : Hiker's lodge

Task : Design a hiker's clubhouse . Design must be site and user specific.

 

Design concept : To not disrupt the main circulation on site, by integrating it into the design.

 Form : Follows the natural curves of the site contour and build around existing trees.

Final model at scale 1:100

For this assignment, I had chose to go ORGANIC , mostly because I form the spaces based on the curvy contours on site, as stated above .Another reason is cz hiker's love excitements and challenges, and curves are perfect to express that :) The thing I like most about this design is the sharp U-turn along the rocky ramp which turns back and into the clubhouse, forming the entrance *Quite a dramatic entrance, lol* Reason I like it is because at the sharp U-turn point, there is no walls and it's freaking 4m high. So standing there, it will seem as if you're at the edge of a clift, with no ropes attached, that's kinda scary no?

External crit went pretty well, despite the part where I had really terrible cough and flu. It made me sound like a duck =.= Loveeeee my crit, Mr.Gary, he's  a-w-e-s-o-m-eeee.  His opinions and feedback, priceless :) Hope he'll be there for my next crit, by then, I hope I have improvements to show that'll make him proud~

Self-rating : Good, but can be better. Lots and lots of improvements awaits me :)

and with this, I shall lay down a big fat full stop to sem2. *cheers for surviving another sem* :D

Task : Design a studio for the hiker's club caretaker, within a 6x6x6m boundary at the selected site (Penang National Park). Design must be both user and site specific.

Pretty full stop in the making.

It's gona end in another 7hours. When the clock strikes 12, it shall be a brand new year and brand a new start. How should I conclude 2011? Till now, no plans yet! Well I guess laying in the couch watching live countdown programs isn't such a bad idea, I mean, for sure there's gona be massive-shitty-jam on the road tonight no? I definitely don't want that to ruin the lovely new year spirit~ So I guess cosy-home-countdown-with-family will most probably be the plan~ : )

To sum up 2011, I shall say it has been a great year, despite some ups and downs in between. But, as the saying goes, life isn't life without a balance between joy and sorrow~ To come to think of it, those obstacles really kinda did help me grew into a better person. It sorta taught me how to see things from a different, more optimistic perspective :) So I'm grateful for everything that happened in 2011, I really am : )

As for 2012, pls be kind to me. I've heard A LOT about sem3, about how torturing it is and how hard it is to survivie it. I fear, honestly, but I have faith that my self-determination will get me through it. *Fingers crossed*

ok fine, my bad, procrastinating issues again, I get it... but... it's normal wad no meh, i mean, every human, well at least most teenagers struggle with this issue wad... okok no more excuses! >:(

Was suppose to update about my lil bittersweet escape to China, but the mood faded when I saw 5.25pm sitting quietly at the corner of my screen, aging at a shocking rate without a single form of notice, and immediately thought of my unfinished assignment that has to be printed tomorrow. LIFE IS JUST GREAT WHEN YOU ARE RACING AGAINST TIME, NO? :)

nothing limits me! >:)

p/s : hang in there fellow archi classmates, few more days left and we can party like there's no tomorrow, or should I say SLEEP like there's no tomorrow? ;P
